Please take the time to carefully read the following terms and conditions prior to booking your tour with Strong Interpretation. It is strongly recommended to read the tour description provided to you to fully understand the tour and activity level you are about to book.
All bookings are made with Strong Interpretation (SI) and by booking with SI you have agreed to and understand the Terms and Conditions outlined below which constitutes the entire agreement between you and SI. If you have confirmed a booking with more than one guest named, you shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all guests named in the booking (including minors and those under a disability) and have made them aware of the Terms and Conditions. The guest who confirmed the booking is deemed to be the designated contact person for all other guest(s) you have booked on a SI tour. SI will accept your booking on this basis.
1) Tour Deposit and Final Payment
For all tours booked with SI, you will be required to provide a 20% non-refundable deposit to confirm your tour and tour date. An invoice will be provided with the details on amounts to be paid for the deposit and final payment, as well as payment dates.
2) Booking Acceptance
Your booking acceptance will be confirmed in writing by SI and after the receipt of the tour deposit.
3) Guest Details
In order to prepare for your tour, SI requests the following personal information from each guest: full name, nationality, accommodation name/address if an Air BnB, food allergies/sensitivities, pre-existing medical condition(s)*, emergency contact name and phone number. This is to be provided at time of booking the tour.
*SI reserves the right to request further information on a medical condition or a professional medical opinion when necessary as determined in its discretion for your safety on a tour or the safe operation of a tour. Please note: pregnancy is considered a medical condition.
4) Cancellation by Guest
If you cancel a tour after making a booking there is no reimbursement of your non-refundable deposit that has paid for the tour. A cancellation will only be effective when SI receives written confirmation (email: email@example.com) of the tour cancellation by you.
For individuals/groups/organizations whom have paid in full prior to the tour (non-refundable deposit and final payment amount): Cancelation, without penalty, can be made up to 21 days prior to your tour date Your refund will be the total invoice amount less the non-refundable deposit. Cancellation within 21 days, a 10% administrative fee of the total invoice will be held back on your refund. Your refund will be the total invoice less the non-refundable deposit and the administration fee.

5) Cancellation by Strong Interpretation
SI will try its best to make sure all tour arrangements will be the same as we have planned together. However, to ensure safe and secure tours, SI reserves the right to make amendments, including altering, postponing and cancelling the tour due to extreme weather, transportation issues, wildfires, wildlife or any uncontrollable circumstances. If SI cancels a tour, you will receive a full refund of any monies paid towards the final payment of the tour, less the non-refundable deposit.
SI is not responsible for any incidental expenses or consequential losses that you incur as a result of the cancelled booking including visas, non-refundable flights or car rentals, non refundable car parking or other fees, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment, SI reserves the right to issue a full refund in lieu of the choices above, in its sole discretion.
Your tour includes the following by SI, unless otherwise stated in the planning of your tour:
· an experienced and certified local guide(s) with inside knowledge of the North Slave area;
· hot/cold beverages and homemade forest treats (allergies & dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice);
· any tour equipment (snowshoes, walking sticks, binoculars, bug repellent etc.);
· pick up and drop off at your accommodation;
· first aid kit & emergency supplies
Your tour does not include the following:
· weather appropriate clothing & footwear for guests (inc. hats, mitts, neck warmer/scarf, extra socks, etc.);
· personal water bottle;
· personal medications;
· car seats for youth
Minimum: General Policy for SI tours is guests must be a minimum of 5 years old, exceptions to this policy will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and are subject to written approval by SI. A parent or guardian must accompany guests between the ages of 5 to 16 years old on a SI tour. Each adult on a booking with a minor(s) is jointly and severally responsible for the behavior, wellbeing, supervision and monitoring of such minor(s), and jointly and severally accepts these Terms for and on behalf of any minor(s) on their booking, including all assumptions of risk and limitations of liability. Please see Exclusions regarding car seats.
Maximum: General Policy, SI has no upper age limit, though SI reminds guests that tours may have special requirements that are physically demanding requiring walking on uneven or slippery surfaces, being outside in cold temperatures or climbing steep stairs.
You, the guest, appreciate and acknowledge that tours in the outdoors requires considerable flexibility and you should allow for alternatives. The tour description of each SI tour is representative of the intended activity, but it is understood that last minute changes are likely to happen due weather, transportation, wildlife, wildfires, construction, etc. You will be informed of these changes as soon as SI is aware of them and the impact on your tour.
10) Change of Tour Itinerary
While SI endeavors to provide all tours as described SI reserves the right to change the tour’s itinerary.
As stated above, SI will inform you of the changes as soon as reasonably possible prior to your tour. When a major change is made you may choose between accepting the change to the tour description or accepting an alternative tour offered with a 10% discount on the final payment amount.
If the changes occur after the tour departure, SI reserves the right to change or adapt the itinerary due to local circumstances or events outside our control.
11) Authority on Tour
The decision of your tour guide(s) is final on all matters likely to affect the safety, interest or well being of all guests participating in the tour.
· At the time of pick-up, if you fail to have the proper clothing or footwear to participate in a tour, you will not be allowed on the tour.
· You must at all times comply with the laws, customs, foreign exchange and drug/alcohol regulations of the NWT and Canada.
· If you are affected by any condition, medical or otherwise, that might affect other guests’ enjoyment or safety on the tour, you must advise SI in advance.
· SI operates a cannabis and alcohol-free tour company. All guides hired by SI will adhere to this policy. If you, the guest, is under the influence of either cannabis or alcohol at the time of pick-up, you will not be allowed to participate on the tour. Neither of these substances will be permitted on any SI tour.
Should you fail to comply with above or commit danger, distress, or annoyance to others SI will terminate the tour without any liability on SI’s part and you will not be entitled to a refund of your tour payment.
12) Acceptance of Risk
You acknowledge that the nature of your tour may be adventurous and participation involves a degree of personal risk. You may be visiting places where the geography, type of trail or the weather conditions present dangers and/or physical challenges greater than those in your daily life. It is your responsibility to ask SI questions and read the tour description(s) thoroughly. You acknowledge that your decision to take part in an SI tour is made in light of consideration of the information provided and you accept that you assume the personal risks in such a tour.
At the start of each tour with SI, you will be asked to sign a waiver acknowledging your acceptance of risk.
13) Errors and Omissions
Although SI has made a concerted effort to verify the accuracy of statements, made in the tour documentation including the website www.experienceyellowknife.com, tour descriptions, and related materials; SI cannot be held responsible for any error, omission, or unintentional misrepresentation that may occur.
14) Claims and Complaints
If you have a complaint about the tour or the service you are receiving, please let SI know immediately in order that we can attempt to rectify the matter. Any further complaint should be put in writing to SI within 30 days of the end of your tour.
In the event that any term or condition contained in these Terms and Conditions is unenforceable or void by operation of law or as being against public policy or for any other reason then such term or condition shall be deemed to be severed from this contract or amended accordingly only to such extent necessary to allow all remaining terms and conditions to survive and continue as binding.
16) Photos and Marketing
Each guest (above the age of 18) participating in a SI tour consents to the use of their images taken during the tour to be used for advertising, and promotional purposes in any medium chosen by SI. You grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable license to use such images for publicity or promotional purposes.
If the guest is under the age of 18 years, SI will seek written permission from a parent or guardian to use their image.
Any personal information that is collected about you by SI may be used for any purpose associated with the operation with your tour. The information may be disclosed to guides hired by SI or other tour operators/service providers being used to operate a tour. SI will otherwise treat your details utmost security and will not share your information with unrelated third parties.
18) Applicable Law
The law of the Northwest Territories, Canada governs these Terms and Conditions and any disputes in connection with tour or these Terms and Conditions must be initiated in the courts of the Northwest Territories, Canada.
